Demotex GmbH: the company behind Casa Padrino
Demotex GmbH · Essen · since 2007

Its name appears in the legal notice, on every invoice and in the German commercial register. Many customers first notice it on a card statement or in their PayPal history and quite reasonably want to know who is behind it.
This page introduces Demotex GmbH: its registration details, its management, its premises and its relationship with the Casa Padrino brand. Above all, it explains how you can check each of these details yourself, without having to take our word for it.

Casa Padrino is the brand, Demotex GmbH is the company
Casa Padrino is the brand name under which Demotex GmbH designs, presents and sells its furniture and interior pieces. The brand stands for luxury furniture in baroque, Art déco and classic style. The range also includes lighting, mirrors, accessories, garden furniture and sculptures.
For you, the practical point is this: your contractual partner is always Demotex GmbH. It issues the invoice, receives the payment, handles withdrawals and warranty claims, and as a legal entity is responsible for fulfilling the contract. If you see "Demotex GmbH" on your bank statement or in PayPal, that is the correct entry for your Casa Padrino order.
Beyond the online shop, the company furnishes private homes, hotels, restaurants and bars in their entirety, produces bespoke pieces and works with architects and interior designers. You can read more on our page for architects, interior designers and dealers.
Management: Marvin Schertl
The managing director of Demotex GmbH is Marvin Schertl. He represents the company externally, and his name is recorded both in the commercial register and in the legal notice. As founder, he has shaped the character of Casa Padrino from the very beginning: the designs, the choice of materials and a clear preference for opulent pieces that demand real craftsmanship.
In 2025, Marvin Schertl received the "Excellence in Luxury Interior Design" award at the Festival de Cannes, in the Pavillon Royal. Together with designer Harald Glööckler, he also created the "Pompöös by Casa Padrino" collection of furniture, decoration and bathtubs. A detailed portrait is available on the page Marvin Schertl, master of timeless opulence (in German), and further background can be found under awards and press.

How to check the commercial register entry
The German commercial register (Handelsregister) is a public record kept by the local courts. Anyone can consult it, without registering and without giving a reason. Access is through the joint register portal of the German federal states at handelsregister.de:
1. Choose the normal search.
2. Enter "HRB" as the register type, "Essen" as the register court and "24428" as the number, or simply search for the company name "Demotex GmbH".
3. The results list shows the company name, registered seat and register number. The register information and the current printout give you the legal form, the address and the persons authorised to represent the company.
Compare these details with the shop's legal notice. If the company name, registered seat and managing director match, you can be confident that the shop belongs to a real, registered company. This simple comparison is one of the most important steps to spot fake furniture shops.
Checking the VAT number with VIES
The VAT identification number DE279640593 is issued by the German Federal Central Tax Office to businesses that trade within the European Union. Whether such a number is valid can be checked through the European Commission's VAT Information Exchange System, known as VIES.
The check is free and takes less than a minute: open the VIES page of the European Commission, select Germany as the member state, enter the digits 279640593 and run the query. The system tells you whether the number is currently valid. For German numbers, VIES usually shows no name or address, because Germany does not publish this data there.
What the legal form GmbH means for you
A GmbH (Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung) is a private limited company under German law, broadly comparable to a British Ltd. It only comes into existence once it is entered in the commercial register, requires notarised articles of association and must have at least one managing director to represent it. A GmbH is obliged to keep proper accounts and to publish its annual financial statements.
